Fun & Festive Rice Krispie Pumpkin Treats

We had a blast making these adorable Rice Krispie treat pumpkins—they’re fun, quick, and just a little messy – well actually q a lot messy!

Here’s a simple guide to making them, with a trick to avoid sticky hands.

INGREDIENTS:

• 6 cups rice krispies cereal
• 3 tbsp salted butter
• 1 (10 oz) pkg. mini marshmallows
• Orange gel food colouring
• 3 pretzel rods, end portions broken off into 2-inch pieces OR you can buy little stalks on Amazon
• Coloured fondant icing tubes 
• Vegetable Oil 

Instructions:

Pour Rice Krispies cereal into a large bowl and set aside.

Melt butter in a non-stick saucepan over medium-low heat.

Add marshmallows, stirring as they melt. Add orange food colouring until you reach the desired pumpkin shade, stirring constantly until fully melted and smooth.

Remove from heat and quickly pour in the cereal. Gently fold everything together with a spatula until coated.

Let cool slightly until safe to handle.

Here’s the trick: coat your hands in vegetable oil before rolling each pumpkin. This keeps the sticky marshmallow mixture from clinging to your hands. Roll the mixture into baseball-sized balls.

Insert a piece of pretzel rod as the pumpkin stem (or use the stalks from Amazon), and adjust the shape as needed.

Place pumpkins on a lightly greased plate and decorate with coloured fondant icing tubes as desired.
