INTRODUCTION
In a world where (we hope) the importance of sustainability is gaining prominence, we’re increasingly seeking eco-friendly options for our little ones.
Fortunately, a wave of conscientious children\’s brands has emerged, weaving environmental consciousness into the fabric of their designs. We’ve featured a few on insta but today, let\’s turn the spotlight on five standout brands that are not only crafting adorable children\’s wear but are also committed to making a positive impact on the planet: Claude & Co, Toastie, Juniper Berry Kids, FrugI, and Turtledove.
Claude & CO
Claude & Co stands out as a beacon of style and sustainability in the children\’s fashion landscape. They have always been – a unisex seasonless, and premium organic brand. That means, their collections are intentionally designed to all work together, there are no general trend-led decisions, and they always create designs with no gender in mind whilst also wanting to have fun and make stylish creations that can be loved. Using high-quality organic fabrics, Claude & Co creates pieces that withstand the wear and tear of childhood adventures while minimizing their environmental footprint.
TOASTIE
Toastie is a female founded, high-end British Eco Childrenswear brand specialising in outdoor products, designed specifically to allow children the freedom to explore and engage with the Natural World. Their ethos is to create a deeper connection between children and the environment, with a view to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in future generations coupled with a lifelong desire to nurture and protect our planet. “\”Having spent an entire childhood immersed in the wonder of the great outdoors, we\’ve been so grateful over the years to know what it is to call Nature our church.”
Juniper Berry Kids
A collection of timeless and cross seasonal pieces designed in London and manufactured in Britain. JuniperBerry Kids was founded in 2016 by Katie Christie. Katie\’s design influence comes from her Scottish Danish heritage combining the romantic and nostalgic florals of classic British prints with the simplicity and elegance of Danish design. The garments reflect the wild beauty of the landscapes that Katie loves mixed with urban pops of neon and bright colours. JuniperBerry Kids\’ mission is to present clothes for children that are fun, durable, comfortable and challenge the need for disposable fashion. We take care to source the best natural fabrics including Liberty Tana Lawn, cotton corduroy and British wool which are beautifully comfortable and hard wearing.
Frugi
Frugi is on a mission to make sustainable living accessible to families. Lucy and Kurt first started Cut4Cloth in 2004 from a need to find clothes that fitted over their son’s cloth nappies.
They also wanted to show the world that you can create a great brand whilst upholding strong ethical & environmental values. Over 18 years and a re-brand later, Frugi is the UK’s leading ethical and organic children’s clothing brand, found globally in over 550 retailers across 30 countries. They have a story to tell and a mission to accomplish – to show that superb design, great ethics & passionate people can help to change the world! They only use organic cotton grown by farmers they trust, our outerwear is made from recycled plastic bottles and they’re always exploring new ways to innovate.
Turtledove
Turtledove creates timeless, unisex pieces using organic cotton fabrics, with Azo free dyestuffs, their collection is a mindful antidote to fast fashion and fast living, ensuring that every garment tells a story of sustainability.
Comfortable and stylish garments for 0-5 yrs, a calm back drop to child hood and the spontaneity of their creative play. A quiet reflection of today, enjoying the moment with seasonless garments to be worn throughout the year. Each collection celebrates one colour highlight to compliment monochrome aesthetics. Clean lines and simple repeat graphics, letting children lead the rhythm in the fabric of life.
Conclusion
In a world where the choices we make impact the planet\’s future, these five children\’s sustainable brands are leading the way with their commitment to eco-friendly practices. By supporting these brands, we can make a conscious choice to nurture not only their children\’s fashion sense but also a healthier and more sustainable world for the generations to come.
